27 January 2008 - Day 14

January 27th, 2008

Today we had a day off, so we spent the time relaxing and doing some adjustments to the vocal arrangements. Right now, we’re enjoying the fantastic company with Sylvester Stallone in Over The Top. We’ve been training for this for days at Prisongym Productions!!!

Yesterday, we recorded more vocals. Unfortunately, Jason had problems with his voice, so we had to wait recording him for a few days. Jesper, however, nailed 3-4 songs, and there is some evil stuff in store for you! Martin also came out to record some theme guitar solo stuff and other small stuff. We found his old Marshall Amplifier, which sounds amazing for that kind of stuff!

25 January 2008 – Day 12

January 25th, 2008

Tons of tough ass heavy weightlifting! That’s what it’s all about at Prisongym Productions!!!

Tough as nails at Prisongym Productions! Martin as bigshot producer!

We started to record vocals today, which also gave Martin a chance to be a big shot producer!!! Fortunately, Jacob kicked him off the producerchair before he fucked things up too bad… haha! This album will see the debut of Jesper behind the mic, and there is definitely something to look forward to for you out there! His voice interrelates great with Jason’s voice… They nailed three songs today, so still six to go!

I just uploaded some more pictures of the guitar/bass setups and a video of Niller recording drums, so check the previous diary posts!

24 January 2008 - Day 11

January 25th, 2008

The mission for today was to check all of Gun’s guitar tracks, since it was his last day at the studio. He corrected a few things, recorded some cool theme guitar stuff and some metal and rock squeals. After that we had a crew change at the studio, since Jason and Jesper arrived at the studio. Everything is ready for the vocal recordings tomorrow!

23 January 2008 - Day 10

January 24th, 2008

Today I finished tracking bass! For three songs that were recorded by the baritone guitar, I switched my ESP bass out with a Schecter bass that Jacob has in his studio. It sounds great for those songs! Damn heavy!!!

This was one of the shorter days in the studio, which definitely was needed, since we’ve had some very long days already, so it was time to just take a night off on the couch.

Tomorrow we will record a few solos and some small guitar stuff, and then Jason and Jesper will begin recording vocals!

I will get pictures online during the day!

22 January 2008 - Day 9

January 24th, 2008

Everything has been moving really fast the last couple of days. Guitars are all done; Martin and Gun only have solos and small details left. We tried different stuff out for the guitar sound, and found the sound we were looking for by using a mixture of a Randall amplifier and 5150. We also recorded a few songs with a baritone Schecter guitar, which gives those songs a heavier touch…

Yesterday we began experimenting with the bass-sound. We were looking for a sound, which both has tons of balls but also a clear sound, which makes it possible to hear exactly, what it is playing! We ended up using two different kinds of the Tech 21 Sansamp, an old looking compressor that Jacob has in the studio and my own Warwick amplifier.

I recorded 5 bass-tracks today, so I’m halfway through…

16 January 2008 - Day 3

January 24th, 2008

So this is the third day of recording and to my surprise, Niller is already
done with recording the drum tracks.

He has been efficient as hell and
nailed everything damn fast!!! It is our first album with Niller, and he
really gives us a whole new dimension with his drumming.
Next up is guitar tracking!

As We Fight Studio Diary - Welcome!

January 23rd, 2008

Welcome to the studio diary for our third album!!!

We will be hard at work at the Smart N Hard Studio with producer Jacob Bredahl for the next three weeks, and we’re looking forward to share it with you. Jacob also produced our last album, so we are happy to work with him again.

This album signifies a new beginning for us, since we, for the first time in five years, stand without a record deal and will be shopping for a label after the recording session. We are really looking forward to see what kind of opportunities this will open up for us, since we are hungrier than ever to hit the road with the new album.

The album itself contains the elements that we’ve shown on the previous two albums, but we have toned the rock influence down in favor of a stronger metal approach, and we feel that it is by far our strongest material yet!
