I brought my hardddisk, and we started mixing with Tue at the Antfarm.
After only half a day, we had something we all liked.
But still we have to chance stuff and look into details – but all in all it sounds the way we wanted it to sound:
Dirty and raw, no triggers and samples or whatsoever.
That was Friday last week.
Then we took the weekend off to listen to it at home, but we also had one day in the practise room to stay in shape….or at least try…or something like that…we pretty much sucked ha ha!
I took some days of from Last Mile to finish the mix of the new Exmortem album – which by the way is pure fuckin´ evil – be prepared!
Then today back to the Antfarm to do the last details on the mix.
Snick and me are here, and we are pretty happy with the outcome – so is Tue.
Up a bit later than usual, because of the party the night before.
Bazziman is fucked, and me too.
Laurits´ hayfever and astma iskilling him, so we decides to do the rest of the vocals Monday or Tuesday.
Instead it´s time to do the backup vocals, so my old friend, Jake, from the band Blunt, shows up to help us out.
He brought his son, Toke, along to help out too, but he only knows how to sing “Live for this…Live live!”He is 4 years old on Sunday – respect from the boys.
The backups went smoothly – Snick and Jake did a good job – Lennart decided to quit…ha ha…
Then Lennart and Laurits left, I went home with Jake – I am staying at his place these days, when I am not in the studio – and Katrine, his wife made a nice dinner. Thank you!
9th of June
Back to recording the rest of the guitar I didn´t do, before we started with the bass.
The shit is sounding crisp – I guess I got inspired by the Entombed show a few weeks ago.
Laurits arrived around 18 o´clock , and we talked a bit and watched AssJack and had dinner.
Laurits watched Rambo 4 (very bad movie), and I hitted the sack.
10th of June
Breakfast, and then we started doing the last vocal tracking.
It went pretty smooth.
Then I did all my backups and solo vocal stuff. Quickly done as well….nice…
We just checked all the lyrics, and Laurits headed home 15 minutes ago.
So now I am alone here in the Fart and Hard, writing stuff… Jeg brænder!
Till next time, which will be very soon when we will start the mix.
4.June 2008
We (laur and me) arrived at Smart´n´hard at 7pm 4.june.
Snick´The hard hitter´ and J was there.
J was in the middle of recording the guitar, we had a listen, and it is all good.
For the guitar 5 songs are done.
We had some food (S.U Gryde) and a little wine, off to bed.
5.June 2008
05:10am the alarm went off!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry boys, forgot to set the phone to studio mode.
09:00am rise and shine, and coffee!!!!
J started to høvle(play) the guitar, got 3 songs down.
O from ‘As we fight´ came by with a wannaby “rulle” , but still cosy.
Time for Laur to get the words on tape. He got 4 songs in the box, sounds fucking nice.
Dinner time.
Dr.fart back to the guitar, and it is all going good. 12:10am done for today!!!!
Good job, Dr.J
Tomorrow:
Finding the real “rulle”
Finish guitar
Do vocals
Start on the bass recordings.
Right now we, Last Mile, are in the middle of the recordings of our debut album.
I will try to keep you updated with what is going on – so far not much, except for listening to Snick beating drumheads to death, and trying to survive the venomous heat in the studio.
Sunday we started setting up the drums in the Feedback studios in Aarhus.
Tue and Jacob (Olsen), did the cable work, while Martin from Drum City tuned the drums.
Lennart and I drove some more equipment to my studio, with help from Staue from Gob Squad, and came back when they were finished setting up.
Michaels kit sounds killer and Tue made it sound even better, and then left us.
Staue decided to hang out in the studio the rest of the day together with Lennart.
Feedback is a nice studio, but soooo damn hot, so Michael was sweating like a pig.
But anyhow he nailed 7 songs on the first day – so we all went home happy, but tired.
Day 2 Michael and I continued to lay down songs, and the last 8 songs were in the box around 4 o´clock. Another hot day.
Day 3 we decided to meet a bit later, just to check if everything is the way we want it.
Next door some young kids from a school were recording something (never found out what it was).
Funny remarks was made in the garden when I met them: “Hey, there is no space left on your body to get a taint…”
Their teacher asked if it´s okay if they came in to the control room and listened to what we were doing – and sure they could.
Questions were asked:
Kids: “Are you famous?”
Band: “….eehhhh no…”
Kids: “You make a lot of money?”
Band: “….eeehhh no….”
Kids: Do you like Slipknot?”
Band: “……eeeehhhhhh….no…”
Michael played a few takes on some parts we thought could be better, and the kids watched him beating the shit out of his kit. I think we almost kept all the originals in the end.
I played an additional cue guitar, to check the groove, and we we all were satisfied with the result.
We packed our shit together, and went to the practise room with Michaels drums.
